7-day Road Trip across France. Episode 5. We decided to spend one full day in Orléans simply walking, exploring and discovering one of France’s most underrated historic cities. After breakfast, we headed into Centre-Ville Orléans — a beautiful mix of Gothic cathedrals, medieval streets, Renaissance buildings, cafés and fascinating French history connected to Joan of Arc. One of the biggest surprises of the day was visiting Hôtel Groslot, an extraordinary Renaissance mansion hidden beside the cathedral. Once home to royalty and later Orléans City Hall, this historic building became one of our favourite discoveries in France.
