I went to Luray Cavern a couple weeks after going to Mammoth Cave, and I was very surprised that Luray Cavern looks MUCH better than Mammoth Cave. Luray Cavern actually looks like a cave. Mammith Cave just looks like an abandoned tunnel dug thru the ground because that is what it is, abandoned saltpeter mining tunnels. I'm sure Mammoth Cave used to look spectacular, but now all they -show- you are abandoned dug out mining tunnels. You might as well go look at a subway tunnel somewhere. But Luray Cavern still has the formations even though it is a lot smaller.
Show me how you would raise street levels in this day and age. So how did they do it back then with no hydraulic equipment or dump trucks
