The Dark Side of Maldives!! (Outside the Resorts!)

7 years watching this guy grow. And now its to the point hes handling major negotiation deals.

Personally I find these kind of foods more appealing than the resort place foods.

The title should be "The other Side of Maldives!" 🙂 The dark side sounds something very bad! But that is showed is normal food and life of Local people.

Maldivian here, Male isn’t the only island Maldivians people live on. They are other islands like Kulhudhufushi, Dharavandhoo, Addoo, Keyodhoo, and more. The fun in Maldives is in the small islands, also Baraboa Mashuni is made of Coconut shavings with leafs and fish, they also add pumpkin, Roshi is like Roti from India and we do use silverware. Most people don’t know that Maldives actually doesn’t have an actual Airforce Or Navy. Male city includes 3 Seperate islands, Infact Male is the main packed city meanwhile Hulhule is a completely Airport island! There’s also Hulhumale which basically is Hulhule and Male combined. Hulhumale has 4 Phase/Sub-Cities Phase 1, The packed Hulhumale, Phase 2, The Tower Island, Phase 3, the agriculture/ nature island, And phase 4 is in construction. By the way if you have any questions tell me in the replies I will try my best to reply. And finally one more thing, Maldives is the ONLY 100% Muslim country in the world!

one correction 5:44, Maldivians do not use nets to catch fish, they use nets for bait, fishing is done entirely via Rod and Line as it is more sustainable for the Tuna Population and healthier for the ecosystem overall.

correction 5:41- nets are banned in Maldives unless used for bait fish, tuna is ethically sourced only by pole and line fishing.

We know it’s supposed to bait people but we are welcoming and peaceful people and although Malé has many issues, I’m not sure it deserves this title. Malé also has wonderful Cafés and restaurants with amazing views and service. But it’s nice that you went some simple ones. Shukuriyya

I clicked on this expecting to see an actual dark side of Maldives, WTH... I was left with a smile and a warm feeling at the end of the video. I made a kari ayam (Indonesian curry chicken) dish for some local teachers here in Uzbekistan last week. It was a big hit. And I paired it with my own style of nasi uduk. They had never had anything like that before..I think

-when my husband and I were in The Maldives we stayed on a tiny island called Bandos. My husband went sport fishing and caught 2 giant sailfish! These fed the whole island and we were guests of honour that night at dinner,they as had made us many different dishes using the sailfish . A memory I will never forget
