pocket your keys before they get their hands on them. that satisfies any need for them to know you're not going to run, without giving them the keys. If they demand the keys, remind them that's not a lawful order and to please pound sand.

I don't care if it's for "safety" or "concern" that you might flee, a cop should NOT be allowed to touch a key of any vehicle. If I paid for that property it is MINE. Not for their hands to touch.
