Two $3,000 bush mechanic 4WDs, left for dead in the flooded Simpson Desert, now hauled 5,000km through Cape York's croc-infested rivers to the top of Australia. Jesse Gleeson and Jock McDonald go back to resurrect the rigs they stranded 18 months ago. From Birdsville they nurse the old rigs north into Cape York, torn apart by one of its worst cyclone seasons on record. Tracks that haven't been driven in months. Trees down for kilometres. And the one that's been keeping them up at night: the mighty Pascoe River, deep, fast, full of hidden rocks, and smack bang in the middle of croc country. It's swallowed better rigs than these.
