ABS stands for Anti-lock Braking System. It is a vital safety feature in modern cars that stops your wheels from locking up when you brake hard. By preventing lock-up, ABS stops dangerous skidding and lets you keep control of the steering during an emergency stop.

Theres also a vacuum pump connected to the brake pedal to help you press the brakes with even more force. You can tell because if you press and release the brakes several times while the engine isn't running, the brake pedal will become much harder to press
