Nah guys, that horse is ecstatic to see a familiar person. When she was standing, she was assessing (as horses do, prey animals), but her ears and her beeline canter are what are saying 'thank God you're here please take me home'
She's scared, fools. That's the hesitation. She has all her equipment on her for a week! You strap a backpack on for a week and run scared. Horses get frightened when their rider falls off. She's been alone! She is a herd animal! That is a scared animal. Thank the Lord, she was found.

One of our cats disappeared for 4 months what hurt the most was that my mother gave him for dead after 4 days even though he had disappeared for 2 weeks once already in the past. That said it doesnβt matter how valid or not the fear is in practice you still feel it and whether the animal was in serious danger the βwhat ifsβ hunt you forever. When you are rejoined like this the relief is one of the best kind of happinesses in life. Like nothing can hurt you anymore.

I think horses are far better adapted to wild life than any other animal. Don't forget, horses are apex herbivores. Yes, they are better adapted than their natural enemies, bears and wolves. Otherwise, they wouldn't exist. Wolves will never wear down a healthy horse, and bears will never catch up to one. The only problem for a lone horse is the lack of a herd.
