AA: When a human harms, neglects or takes the life of an animal in a cruel or unusual manner without purpose I'm just sick of my comments getting yeeted into the digital void by AI censorship. 🤦🏾 So. This is actually a fairly common form of DV. The fact that this judge set a precedent for not punishing people for retrieving their pets from fatal situations is actually a huge step forward when it comes to animal rights. Because people legitimately do this kind of thing ALL THE TIME. Setting up a legal understanding that some folks will lash out to harm animals to hurt an ex is kind of a major breakthrough in understanding both DV and AA. Only being charged for the actual damages she caused is pretty gentle in my opinion. In a good way.

I had to steal my dog from a kill shelter! He was picked up in front of my house 30 miles rural for standing in the road like a goober. They kept him for a couple of days, and nobody called to notify me. Nobody would return my calls. I checked two other shelters, and he wasn't there. I called county dispatch, and they confirmed a dog was taken from my address and taken to this kill shelter. I woke up at 4am and parked outside the gate and waited several hours until someone showed up to feed the animals. They unlocked the gate to enter. I waited until they started feeding before I walked inside to find my dog. Nobody ever knew I was there.
