Hosted by Bear Grylls, Hostile Planet zooms in on the world’s most extreme environments to reveal the animal kingdom’s epic stories of survival on this fast-changing and continuously evolving planet. In this Hostile Planet compilation from National Geographic, discover the animals that call deserts and the Earth’s poles home. Surviving the Desert - 0:00 How do animals survive in the desert? Desert wildlife relies on specialized adaptations to combat extreme heat, dehydration, and a lack of shade where the sun is the ultimate enemy. For desert animals like the Nubian ibex, Arabian wolf, and brown hyena, to survive in the desert means learning how to deal with the sun’s unrelenting volatility. Polar Habitats - 0:47:07 Polar habitats are similarly enslaved by the sun: half the year is plunged into bitterly cold darkness and hardship, and the other half is blistered with light and heat. What animals live in polar habitats? Polar regions are home to highly resilient species like polar bears, Arctic wolves, emperor penguins, musk ox, and more that are uniquely built to survive months of freezing darkness and sudden seasonal shifts. As the sun exerts its unquestionable dominance, we reveal the incredible ways these wild animals survive. That wolf pack hunting the musk oxen in the freezing dark was absolute insanity. Nat Geo never fails to capture these raw, impossible moments of survival. The tension when the mother wouldn’t leave her calf was heartbreaking. Nature doesn't care about your feelings, it just demands everything you've got. Absolute masterpiece of an episode.
Do you prefer hot ☀ or cold ❄ climates?
The cameraman' trust and belief made this series successful! Amazing how he was cool while coming out of that well.
The cinematography in this documentary is absolutely breathtaking. Are we witnessing the final generations of these iconic polar predators in their natural habitat?
It’s absolutely mind-blowing how these animals adapt to such extreme environments. Nature is crazy. 🏜️❄️
Polar bears… the shear size alone is incredible, not to mention they’re known for hunting humans, I’ll pass!
The goats jumping across the cliff face was too dangerous for someone like me who was afraid of heights.
Outstanding documentary. The contrast between desert survival and life in the polar regions perfectly highlights the incredible diversity of our planet and the determination of wildlife to endure extreme conditions.
Wonderful wild life..
Thank you Bear Grylls for showing us the hidden drama of deserts—life there is no walk in the park!
Pés na terra, cabeça no céu -🔥
Surviving the brutal transition between volcanic heat and freezing arctic tundras requires a flawless strategy where any mistake means extinction!
These shots are spectacular!
Its Palestine not Israel
Watching this is not for the faint of heart. When the Arabian Wolf got the Ibex baby, so sad and only minutes in. I know how nature works but I don't have to be happy about it 😢
One scientific fact: Arctic foxes can survive temperatures below -50°C thanks to one of the warmest fur coats relative to body size in the animal kingdom.
