Honestly, every generation of football has had its own level of difficulty. Compared with the game 20 years ago, today’s pace, intensity and fitness levels are almost superhuman. That may also explain why traditional dribblers, with Messi as the rare exception, are less dominant now. Short, quick passing—tiki-taka in its various forms—has largely replaced prolonged individual dribbling, while counter-attacks and long, direct passes have become increasingly effective. Perhaps that is also why the old Brazilian samba style has faded. But every World Cup-winning team earned it in its own way, using the strengths and qualities of its era. I simply enjoy and appreciate them all.

You cannot compare. Almost every player cheats and cons their way to victory these days but it is seen as part of the game. I, personally, can't consider any modern great over past greats for that reason alone.
