The ball has to be in the foot that tags the base

The ump definitely got the rules for tagging a player mixed with tagging the bag lol

Umpires are like substitute teachers. Just there, without much qualification.

Umpires are just the parents who could not think of a quick excuse.

By that logic, a player wouldn't be able to catch the ball and step on the base to force an out either.

If that is indeed a little league rule, the umps appeared to be the only ones aware of it.

As long as you have secure control of the ball, it doesn't matter what part of your body touches the bag.
