I hope that GM was as professional at letting you go to your other job irl as you portrayed her to be. Sad that she promised you would be first cut and tried to make you stay though.

I don't get why the GM would even cut the first girl with it being so busy and needing "all hands on deck"

I had a boss do something similar to me. I was working a flagging job, and I told my boss that I had to leave at a specific time to make it to an appointment, she said that would be fine, and then I had to remind her three times and beg to be replaced in my spot so I could go, and I was late for my appointment and my boss was mad at me for needing to leave, inspite of having told me it was okay several days before and the morning of. That type of manager will never respect you, your time, or your money, but they will use and abuse you with zero guilt.

That sounds like a HOT mess at that former job.

Places seem to forget they are easily replaceable just like they claim we are. 😂

These GM's clearly forget what we workers discuss prior in advance to the Day of the event. This is everywhere.

Literally happened to me. I worked part time at a sports bar by a mlb stadium and it was opening day. I’m always at my main bar saturdays but the part time job scheduled me 8am-Volume. I accepted as long as I get to the main bar by 8pm. 7:45pm comes around and she refuses to let me go as if I’m gonna jeopardize the job that turned bartending into a career, for her and a baseball seasons worth of money.

Oh I felt this one . Anyone that has served on these kind of days never gets tipped properly!!! EVER .

This happened to me at McDonald's when I was 18. When they hired me they said I wouldn't be scheduled during set hours I worked my other job, at a music store. Then they scheduled me during those set hours, and when I asked about it the manager very rudely said "well you're gonna have to choose." I obviously chose the music store, where I stayed for two years until I started nursing school, and made a lot of close friends of like minded people. Never once regretted that decision.

Damn straight I'd have done the same thing like WTF you can hear the rocks rolling in some people's head's it's crazy what these managers think is acceptable

Not restaurant/ bar work, but healthcare work similar story. I was working for a home health care company & I got a job at a hospital. I told the home health agency that I was willing to continue working PRN, mainly because of a couple of clients I adored. It worked just fine until they told me I had to come in for a mandatory 8 hour in-service training. That itself wasn't bad, but it could only be scheduled on a day that I worked at the hospital, and we only got paid minimum wage for that day. I got paid over double minimum wage at the hospital. I would've had to switch shifts at the hospital to sit in a lecture room for 8 hours for 7.25 an hour. At the hospital, I worked 12 hour shifts for around 16 an hour. I called the home health agency & told them I quit

The way she said "do what you gotta do" is the exact tone I fear whenever I need to make a request at work
