Yea because in a world of his loneliness I’m sure all of the memories of Jerry and the emotions that hit stuck. Not that he likes Jerry but he battled Jerry of all people for dominance in his own family. Rick did that to Rick Prime and Jerry. And Rick knows he’s a scumbag even though it was an alternative version who left beth
Every universe where Jerry succeeds, he ends up a threat to Rick. Doofus Jerry is a good example. The only difference between him and our Jerry is Doofus never met Beth.
Beth has always been such a cold evil character. Even more unlivable than Skylar White, almost as bad as Wendy from Ozark.
Rick did say something about being autistic in a past season, changes are he just doesn't like change. Jarry not being around is one constant Rick subconsciously likes to know is there.
I actually love the fact that its been a long process of rick slowly becoming...a mix of our rick and the rick he used to be. Im okay with him being a lil...grim....but I'd love to see more of him and Jerry.
I found it weird how fast Space Beth came to this conclusion so quickly
Based on the comic with doofus you find out every universe needs both a Rick and a Jerry. Jerry is the least intelligent in the whole universe while Rick is the most intelligent. Without one the balance is overthrown. The sole exception of this rule is doofus world where the Jerry is the smart one while Rick is the dumb one

People do forget that Rick and Jerry literally fused minds in the last season so Rick understands Jerry on a more deep level and actively understands him more than Beth ever could he’s worried for Jerry at the fact that he knows what he’d be feeling at the moment and it also goes to show how little Beth thinks of Jerry emotionally.
I mean we’ve seen how Rick has started treating Jerry. He sees no point in making fun of him, at this point of the show he’s just a guy around. He’s actually been more useful than anything, seen clearly in the last episode with the cloud dude.
Rick is simply afraid of changes
One of my favorite moment of season 8 was Jerry engaging in small talk with Rick and Rick got mad, but not because it happened, but because it was clear he enjoyed it and was liking Jerrie’s presence. One of my favorite shows of how Rick has change from season 1-9
No rick is scared because he is afraid of Jerry being smart just like Doofus Jerry because it if Jerry becomes smart it could be extremely bad
