You've reached the end
lets take this and pair it with a redbull event
Spoke wheels ARE held together by springs though. Sure their K value is really high, but they are steel elastically deformed to have pre-tension.
Cutting spokes with wire strippers is crazy. Let’s see the blade lol
That looks fun af, keep up the good work man
Imagine if you had inflated those tyres above atmospheric pressure levels 😂
The main problem is that springs cause lateral loss of rigidity, which means the bike loses precision while turning and feels funky because the geometry and center of rotation all change. A company tried to solve this one by using linkage spoked wheels with pivots to keep the wheel rim inline with the hub, but it still had an unnatural feeling.
builds wheel out of springs just to find out they basically already are
Holy underrated??
Как ИИнтересно. Спицы для того и нужны, что бы колесо держалось ровно. На пружинах колесо сразу перкосится .
Put some little shock absorbers in the open spots too.
Lol the wheel was already on spring, they are just much more rigid 😅
It pretty simple to understand y it didn't result as people assumed it should be. Because in an shock absorber or an suspension there's the fluid is there make the spring release the energy slowly offering smooth ride or absorbs shock "
That worked way better than I could have ever imagined
Elasto Mania videogame memory hit me instantly.
Please add some support beams to the rims to maintain the integrity of the whole wheel as it tends to bend when pressure is applied
There is a bloke in Russia, who runs his own bike shop. He actually modifies the spokes themselves, by cutting the middle part of them out and replacing that with a spring. Looks and works great.
Man is dedicating his full life to wheels atp 😭
even if it doesn't work as expected, it's still a cool idea to try. Thanks for showing us.
So if you pair it with shock absorbers where the wheels are mounted You have the space for a shock+spring coilovers
