At 70, Poon Kng Joo wakes up at 3am every Sunday to cycle 100km around Singapore. He’s cycled up the mountains of Taiwan and across the length of Thailand, all in his silver years. Besides cycling, he also restores and hand-paints his own bicycles. Over the years, he has built a collection of more than 100 bicycles — from vintage pieces to limited editions — worth around $700,000. Tbh, I 5mins into your video made me take my helmet out and cycle out for a night ride. Amazing uncle, keep inspiring 🫡
This guy is an inspiration.
I have great admiration for anyone over 70 who is still out climbing mountains on a bike. However, I'd like to offer a word of caution based on personal experience. Just because you're fit enough to climb at 70 doesn't necessarily mean you're able to descend a mountain safely at 70 km/h or more. A good friend of mine is 78 and can climb better than most 30-year-olds. Unfortunately, while he climbs like a young man, he descends like an older rider. On a very steep descent, he crashed and suffered a broken neck. My message isn't to stop riding—it's simply to remember that the descent is just as important as the climb. As we get older, our reaction times, balance, and confidence can change, even if our climbing ability remains excellent. Ride within your limits on the way down, and don't feel you need to keep up with the younger riders. Getting home safely is far more important than getting down the mountain a few minutes quicker.
Wow Uncle so fit and hardworking. I can't even cycle half of what he does every week...
He's such a pure soul
God bless him. I wish him many more years of cycling.
uncle is so strong!!!! keep going uncleeeee <3
Cycling up mount faber is not an easy feat. Even some fit young people cannot do it. Good job uncle
You go, Uncle Joo 💪🏻! I started road biking at 55 myself, and hope to be climbing Faber & doing oversea rides into my 70s.
Uncle you are an inspiration to all
Power la Uncle!
Man is pushing 100km with average speed of 23+km/h. Geez, what a beast. My dream is to reach his age and be able to do that.
