Changing the terms of winning the game at the last minute is illegal. The qualification for winning that car is to keep your hand on the car. Based on those terms, the contestants agreed to go through the hardship. If you have told them from the beginning that towards the end they will have to toss a hat onto the mannequin, then some of the contestants would have disagreed and left. If that guy sued them in American court, then he would have gotten some compensation and small claim court. They would say both of them had equal opportunity, but it's not about both of them getting an equal opportunity, it's about not stating all the rules up front. What if he had problem with his vision? If he knew in advance, he could have made preparations Or decision not to waste his time with this game.
