That is one of the biggest lessons I took from this movie. Another lesson? You don’t have to shrink yourself to fit in. You don’t have to keep proving your worth to people. The people who truly value you won’t make you fight for a seat at the table. Sometimes, speak up for yourself. Stand your ground. Be confident. If you don’t save yourself, nobody is coming to do it for you. Now, about the movie. It wasn’t one of those movies that grabbed me from the beginning and refused to let go. But somehow, I kept watching. You don’t know whether to stop or continue, but before you realize it, you’ve finished it. And honestly, it was worth it because of the lessons. The acting was good, but let me give special flowers to Kembelley. That woman is beautiful, classy, confident, and carries herself so well. She knows herself, knows what works for her, and it shows. I’ve watched her in several movies and she never disappoints. One thing this movie also reminded me of is that you don’t always have to be loud to make an impact. Some people command fear, but not respect. Others walk in quietly and become the light in the room. That’s exactly how Adeeze was. She wasn’t shouting, but she was changing lives around her. And can we talk about Adeeze’s mother? That’s a mother. She refused to encourage her daughter to chase what wasn’t hers, even when money was involved. Some parents would have pushed their child in the wrong direction, but she chose what was right. Good parenting still matters. The children we raise today become the people society will deal with tomorrow. Adesi herself deserves her flowers too. She stayed true to her values when many people would have compromised. Sometimes walking away is not weakness; sometimes it’s wisdom. And I loved how Kimberley eventually found herself again and how her partner recognized and appreciated her growth. Overall, this movie has lessons, emotions, and characters that will leave you thinking. My rating: 8/10. Have you watched it? What lesson stood out for you? #TheHoneygirl
