It is so weird to think that a lake can be so deep. Also, it's quite a strange sight to see seals inland instead of the open ocean.

THIS is what a YouTube short video SHOULD be! Thank you and 'well done'.

The Baikal seal thrives with very few predators save for bears and maybe wolves

Had the pleasure of seeing this lake back in 1984. It was breathtaking!

Fun fact: there are species of fish that live so deep in Lake Baikal, their bodies have such a high fat content (for insulation), that when they are brought up from the depths, they literally start melting at the surface.

Weird that you didn’t mention WHY the seals ended up 2,000 miles deep inland, away from all oceans. It appears that the rift on which Lake Baikal sits has, in the past 10 million years, been flooded with seawater from the Arctic, especially. That’s then led oceanic species to end up stranded in Lake Baikal, like the aforementioned seals. This also includes all sorts of fish and crustaceans that only happen in the ocean. That’s a big reason why Lake Baikal resembles the ocean deep underwater. It was once connected to the ocean, so it has animals that are similar to deep ocean animals.

A natural wonder of Earth on any list IMO.

So in theory it'll just keep getting deeper until the bottom starts warming again

This video was so good. Not only interesting content, but the narration felt natural and not as clichéd as or typical of the many YT videos of this genre that I consume.

I would say it's not a lake with a rift, but a rift with a lake... I think it makes more sense like that...

So the Russian mob had to travel about 4 days to dispose a body.

Wrong. The Saimaa ring seal is also a freshwater species in Finland

Its actually deeper than 1600m, there's a layer of sediment at the bottom thats about 5km thick.
