Probability Density Functions deserve better treatment than being called waves. And Sean Carroll's YouTube series on Quantum Mechanics is one of the best free things on the internet.

I'm sorry for the dumb question, but in 2:24, if electrons are everywhere or nowhere, or in one place, or we just don't know, she says "these questions are outside of what quantum theory can answer". Then why does every introduction to quantum theory mention superposition, decoherence, and how things "are when we are not observing them"? What evidence lead to any statement about what is not observed?

First half of the video is exposition. Atomic clock explanation starts at 5:59.

I've been in superposition for a while now. So far so good.

Is that a little shoutout to Stan Brakhage at 5:15? Also a Boulder legend

We had Map books with up to date information published on an annual basis, I’d hate to see how people would get around like chickens without heads if GPS goes out.

I learned that Strontium regulated clocks can detect the gravitational difference when it's elevation is raised the equivalent of a human hair. That thought gets me every time.

Well, atomic clocks work bcs they use the micro-cosmos cycles rather than the macro-cosmos (the 1st time keeping mode): the earth spin creates 24 hour day, the moon phases create a month, and earth’s rotation around the sun creates the 4 seasons of the year (1 full year). So basically, my definition of what time is, was completely valid: the subjective use of natural bodies’ cycles (including earth and atoms), watches/clocks and units, in order to measure or label the chronological changes in nature that due to entropy seem to continually progress only forward. both gravity and entropy are crucial but related; and so is speed/acceleration. btw, all timing devices use nature and its cycles, but electrons also depend β€œangular momentum” to move. I believe my GPS device also uses the speed of my car and cities’ model in the GPS App to give me accurate coordinates. My personal Motto: love the U.S.A, live in the USA. Loathe the U.S.A, leave the USA.

I passed both undergraduate and graduate courses in Quantum Mechanics but I can’r claim to grasp it.

does a tree make a noise when it falls if no one there to hear it, i remember that from school

wow..... that was such a interesting story... was really getting into it... to know what's next.... and than BAM... abrupt ending when it was getting good...😒.. my knowledge just got defunded by the govt. thanks a whole lot! 😿

Time measured by a quantum clock depends on the relative speed of the clock AND observer/measurement.

If you have any experience with waves, superposition is pretty intuitive.
