Once inside, these tiny microplastics can act as endocrine disruptors that mimic or interfere with our natural hormone signals. Because human reproduction relies on a highly delicate balance of hormones like estrogen and testosterone, even minor interferences can theoretically throw the entire system off balance. Current research provides compelling evidence that this interference is already happening. Scientists have detected microplastics in human placentas and testes, and studies show strong correlations between high chemical levels and declining sperm quality or reduced ovarian reserve. However, the medical community emphasizes that this requires significant further investigation. Because humans are continuously exposed to a massive cocktail of different chemicals and lifestyle factors simultaneously, it is incredibly difficult to isolate microplastics as the sole, definitive cause of specific reproductive issues in a clinical setting. #microplastics #netflix #fertility

Maximizing my microplastics as an alternative form of birth control
People aren't prepared for the cost of moving away from plastic.
Finally!!!! Been advocating this for years. Only wear natural fibers!!! ❤
Beyond frustrating that the responsibility falls on the consumer and not the billion dollar companies
Nobody uses "POV:" correctly anymore.
You will never be able to really get rid of it all. Just do a few things to make it a little less, and keep living your life ❤
Mr. Ballen, please don't let negative comments get to you! All it is, is jealousy! Some people get joy out of trying to make people feel bad! You are awesome at what you do! Just remember ALL of the people that care & love to watch you! Blessings to you & your family & your entire team that help you bring your fans all the strange dark & mysterious stories that you share! 🙏❤️🙏
It’s so funny to me that people are just working out chemicals and plastic might be bad for them 😂
The amount of clothes that are made of plastic and synthetic fibres!
I'm been on this path for over 20 years! It's damn near impossible to get rid of all plastics in our products, but there are so many little things you can do, especially stop drinking plastic bottled water, stop microwaving things in plastic, no hot foods in plastic.
The show could have very easily had a control group with 6 couples making other lifestyle changes like eating better and exercising more but not avoiding plastics. It would make the show more interesting and slightly more scientific relevant. If I had to guess, they didn't do it because they knew the results might not make for good TV.
I recently stopped buying clothes unethically sourced
I haven’t seen any risk assessments that found that BPA was actually an endocrine disrupter, only some evidence that it had some neurological impacts in young animal studies 🤔
I've swapped to all the plastic free alternatives (as much as possible) it's taken years and a lot of expense, and yet no one will ever be completely free of it, its in everything including the air, the water, all our food, even our blood now - theyve found microplastics in babes in the womb! and unfortunately it won't just go away even if the big industries stop producing it tomorrow. You can only do what you can and don't beat yourself up if you have to use some plastics, very often there is no alternative.
Oh, tell me you're worried about a little plastic while BOTH YOUR FRIGGIN ARMS ARE BLACKED OUT WITH INK.
I would be really interested to see an actual study about the effects of micro plastics but on a much much bigger sample of people. And also to study the opposite. What do the people who are not affected by micro plastics have that that allows them to get pregnant and not suffer from medical conditions?
This is our generations leaded gasoline
Ive been trying to find clothes made of natural fabrics while thrifting and I havent had much success. Theres always something in there whether its spandex, polyester, nylon, etc. Im trying to live more sustainably but damn is it hard, especially when you are broke asf.
I’ve tried reducing microplastic exposure for years & now i’m at the acceptance phase where I accept that everything is contaminated with microplastic & therefore microplastic is part of aging. I’ll still try my best to reduce it, but not going to like stress about it too much
While obviously microplastics are bad and I try to reduce them as much as possible. This sounds like a push for another overconsumptionist trend. “Throw away all your plastic!!! Buy new healthier better stuff rn!!!”
