So I spoke to my mom the other day, and I realized that the UK has done something to me. This video is a candid reaction video to a recent conversation, highlighting the ongoing culture shock of living abroad. It's a relatable look at expat life and how American reacts to these differences. ⭐GET MORE HICKSON DIARIES HERE: 🌐 WEBSITE: hicksondiaries.com/start-here 🗞️THD NEWSLETTER: https://www.hicksondiaries.com/lead-collection 🪪 MANDYVERSE: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCj_f0TgkpSrIrIcwGzw56pA/join 📖 GUIDES: https://www.hicksondiaries.com/relocation-checklist 🛍️THD MERCH: https://www.hicksondiaries.com/shop 📧 EMAIL US QUESTIONS & SUGGESTIONs: [email protected] ⭐PARTNERSHIPS: https://www.hicksondiaries.com/royal-british-legion-partnership ⭐MY RECOMMENDATIONS (As an Amazon Associate, we earn from qualifying purchases): 📚BOOKS: – An Officer Not A Gentleman by Mandy Hickson https://amzn.to/4tZDPLE – Tim Curry Vagabond. https://amzn.to/4cXlh9a 🤖TECH STUFF: –VidIQ (500 bonus credits for a premium plan) https://vidiq.com/r/?code=quAqUA – Streamyard (get $10 discount!) https://streamyard.com/pal/d/5027062124511232 – Blue Yeti Nano Premium USB Mic. https://amzn.to/48ekY7m 🖼️ MISCELLANEOUS ITEMS: – Flag Display Case. https://amzn.to/48ekY7m Some links may be affiliate links, meaning we may earn a small commission if you make a purchase through them — at no extra cost to you. there's also something else in here- I think it shows how resilient the UK is, and also explains our sarcastic, dark humour.
You've definitely acclimatised. You didn't say 'acclimated'.
As Billy Connolly said " buy yourself a sexy raincoat and go live a little"
as the Germans say "what are you made of sugar!"
I’ve been to many a Brit bbq where it went from gorgeous sunny to ominous black rain loaded cloud during the cooking , the chef stayed outside under a garden brolly finishing off the cooking in drizzle while everyone else ducked in the house waiting for it to hopefully pass . Unless the weather report says 100% rain all day , we’ve made a plan , we are still going to chance it . We winge a lot about weather but are surprisingly optimistic & flexible when it clashes with a party .
If we stayed in when it rained we would spend most of the year indoors 🤣🇬🇧🏴☔
As one might say 'no such thing as bad weather just the wrong clothes!'
In Glasgow you just wing it. The rain is with you all year round - sunny days are just a bonus. Rain means nothing here.
If we let the weather bother us we wouldnt do anything 😅
Big smile from me to you 😁😁
I always say skin’s waterproof.
A little bit of rain never hurt anyone!
I always tell Americans who have not been to the UK to go to Seattle if they want to experience British weather. It's very similar, not just the climate but the way the locals react to it. The people there would never dream of not doing something because it was raining, they just go about their business as usual.
Went to Devon and Cornwall with my husband, daughter, brother and sister in law. We were camping and it rained nearly the whole time Some places flooded but we had a fun time. There's a photo of my husband holding an umbrella over a disposable barbecue.
So funny. Maybe your Mum wasn't motivated because you weren't there.x
"There's no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothing"
I love our British weather, I love moaning about it.
I mean in Britain if you cancelled for the rain you’d be cancelling half of the year
I hate being indoors with a passion but even l have had days when I’ve felt tired and thought f£ck this shit, I’m having a “me day” cuddled up on the sofa watching a film chocolate in one hand, coffee or wine in the other. The earth is still revolving and I’m ready to face the shops again and partying with friends 😂❤❤❤. All power to your Mum for thinking of herself for a change 🥂🥂🥂🍾
Yesterday’s forecast on the beeb app was 60-97% chance of rain in my area. There was a bit of spit about 6pm. What a waste of a day if that had been the basis of my plans! 🙄
