"The cost of living versus the price of living" that resonates. it's the difference between price and value. Thailand is a deeply amazing country with an identity crisis in my opinion, & Bangkok is beautifully broken. It's both electric and eclectic. I could go on & on with the adjectives and they all would apply. I was there scouting retirement locations for my parents. I felt that freedom feeling as well and the honeymoon phase was very impactful. 1 month in, I saw Thailand's mask slipping a bit. I'm not sure if you experienced this (because you're beautiful) but most times I felt either invisible, or the smiles, kindness & welcoming hospitality was largely transactional. There's only so much you can blame on the language barrier, when people are largely speaking funtional english to you. As a solo traveler, did you ever get that "alone in a crowd" feeling? That and the air quality was enough for me to rethink my parents retiring there full time. I look forward to watching your Thailand versus Vietnam comparisons, especially narrated by that ASMR, guided meditation worthy voice of yours. Seriously Chloe, thanks for sharing your profoundly personal experiences with us.
Great content you are such a Lady ❤
From Distance from your norm, Familiarity, Community , Identify, etc. You always cover vast subjects that are relevant to the topics. Good Video 📸
Dont age shame me🤣 Seriously another great video. I agree with all of it. You are so thoughtful. You look great. The move agrees with you. I see the tan lines. Thats basking in the sun.🥰
Great advice 😊
Thank you.
Just to deal with the visa process alone if you need your hand held, if you do not know how to figure things out without relying on other people, if you cant stay organized, if you’re bad with time management and deadlines, if you’re not patient, youre not gonna make it. Thats the one thing about having corporate experience that transfers well if you want to move abroad. Corporate is not a place for handholding and babying people. You’ll get pip’d out and fired. It’s the same with moving abroad. Long term success with that is a self selection process where people who know how to own adulthood fully and manage their time, paperwork, budget, and relationships, do just fine. Those who can’t, the country will PIP them out in the form of a missed deadline for some visa paperwork or blowing through their budget drinking and partying 😂
Yes I Can! lol great vid you Gypsy spirit you…Me as well-stay real and informative Ms Chloe🎉
Very good video! You got me thinking it's not about the "cost" but how much am I willing to "pay".
I agree with comment at the end when you mentioned u wont be spending as much in dollars but you will spend that in other ways whether it be mentally and emotionally in various ways straight facts
Very good information especially the part about having a discerning spirit. I call it thinking for yourself and when people truly learn to think for themselves, they will start living life. I'm moving to Thailand in July and when I told my neighbors and someone started with negativity I STOPPED them in their tracks. I let them know I wasn't telling you for advice I was telling you because that's what I'm going to do!!
I appreciate you keeping it real when it comes to Thailand. A lot of YouTubers paint it as the most perfect place on the planet. Though i love it here, it does have its cons.
Living overseas has been very rewarding especially if Asia is not your 1st choice. Tourist need more comparison before they can really decide which countries provide the best opportunities for their lives. A lot of ex-pat have families and properties overseas. They have a life outside America and loving life to the fullest. Spain 🇪🇸 is very beautiful. My #1 choice after living there 2 yrs.
When you move overseas you also have to be a problem solver, so many issues will come up, Visa moving money and banking, health care, Ive lived in the Philippines, Malaysia, Vietnam and presently in Jomtien Thailand in the last ten years.
Great breakdown of some of the pros and cons of relocating abroad! It’s not a cookie cutter process for everyone, but definitely considerations for all💯additionally, visiting somewhere and living there is a different world👌🏾keep up the great work🫡
Awesome discussion
Can you address what happens when you hit 180 days in Country and become a Tax Resident; does this invoke if you do not earn income? An older person on a fixed pension who, having no family, who would like a "home base" for my few posessions, etc. and not be forced to be away for 6 months a year. I would not be working and getting a paycheck, just Social Security.
Seems like for you overall it's mainly the fact that you miss your social circle.
Hey Ms Chloe, another great video from you. I really appreciate the way you are making those of us who are wanting to migrate to SE Asia consider certain things. I feel like I'm ready for a new chapter in my life, it will come with sacrifaces, adaptation and growth but I am actually excited to see how this journey will unfold for me. Btw, your skin is glowing sis. I would love to see what the grocery stores and gyms are like out there. You did a really good grocery store video when you were living in Thailand, I enjoyed it a lot. Keep doing your thing, lovely lady!
Good advice 👍
