After living in Southeast Asia for years, coming back to America feels completely different. From prices and lifestyle to culture and everyday routines, reverse culture shock is real. πβ‘οΈπΊπΈ #USA #SoutheastAsia #ReverseCultureShock #Travel #ExpatLife #Philippines #Thailand #TravelVlog #CultureShock #GioOnTheGo

Huge parking lots??? How about when you come home to the HUGE WOMEN!!! 555. 5 months in Thailand. Miss it. Coming back to Thailand and Phillipines in November.
My reverse culture shock when returning from Thailand was the amount of overweight people in the USA.
Yah figured you were gonna experience this. The tipping is just insane.
We can ALL refuse to tip. Itβs not mandatory. I dare the tipping police to come for us.
Thanks for the update.. Be well my friendπ»π»π»
A shock huge for me is in USA restaurants give you 10 huge, big napkins!!! In Phils you get One napkin 2 inches big
Have a good visit with your family Geo!
I was in Thailand for 3.5 weeks last year, and when I got home, it felt a little weird to drive a car again. Iβd let the BTS and the songthaews take care of that for a while. π
Tipping isnt expected everywhere but they don't sell credit card systems anymore without the prompt for a tip. I don't tip unless I'm sitting down at a restaurant.
I really love the huge crashes on the interstate ,from driving 70 miles an hour. Hehe
Thailand has good highways
Small town USA is still really nice.
I don't tip anybody, anywhere on the planet, unless they do something good, they were not already supposed to do. I'm not their employer, as they don't work for me. So, I'm not supposed to pay them, their employer is. They are there thanks to me, and not the other way around. And if what they make isn't enough, they cannot blame me, but themselves instead, for not having picked another job that matched their expectations. .
I recently got back from a 2 month stay in Nicaragua! Im still trying to adjust again here in south florida; the prices here are ridiculous by comparisn; I cant do sht here without dropping a couple of hundreds! In Nica 200 buck would last me 3 to 4 days, including hotels , 2 meals a day at good restaurants, transport, etc! It basically sucks in usa , unless your rich!!
Geo your ears must be ringing, being so quiet in the states. Especially coming back from Southeast Asia with all that noise pollution especially in the Philippines. Enjoy your stay with your family back home in the states.
I still tip 10%, when they say cost of living has gone up I remind them this $30 meal used to cost 5 bucks. So yes 10% of 30 is a lot more than 10% of $5.
When I was in the Philippines three years ago I was in some stores that were very large, just as large as the ones in the US.
I went from spending $2 to $7 dollars for a haircut in the Philippines, Thailand and Malaysia to $30 in the U.S. at Supercuts (it use to be under $8). But I love how people follow traffic laws in the U.S. vs the Philippines.
Welcome back, Gio!
Where's your hat?π
