Dumb question: you say i is the steering wheel that turns you 90°, but you show 180° of rotation—why the discrepancy?

You can also throw a 2 into the equation with e^(2i*pi)-1=0

I feel like it would be more compelling to say that e^(i pi/2) - i = 0 might be more interesting, because to me it feels at least a little bit more useful. And I think the inclusion of 1 as a titan of math as if it is integrally relevant feels only trivially true (especially when you're also including 0 as another titan, since to simplify this equation a little more, that 0 drops out), because you could also trivially add 1 as a coefficient to any of the terms.

Also, it contains the three operations of addition, multiplication, and exponentiation!.

I appreciate the beauty of it, but as an engineer my brain jumped to -1 + 1 = 0. I guess i forgot there was beauty in knowlage rather than it just being a tool. Thanks

How can you talk about this equation without mentioning the more general and useful form e^ix = cos(x) + i*sin(x) Here, x is any angle (in radians, so pi = 180°). The equation essentially lets you convert between the two main fors of writing complex numbers, those being the exponential form (e to some power) and the rectangular form (a + i*b).

I believe the quadratic equation should be voted more fun. It’s like a short little brain teaser
