Compilation: The story of the Mormon Church episodes 1-3 Get $20 off your first order at http://cometeer.com/johnnyharris I’ve made three mini docs about the history of the LDS church, a lot of people were finding them in isolation so we decided to put them together. Check out all my sources for this video here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1j3_N2gXrSHflYDlVMZKtx-iMmp3pIKFm9wJeGR22tQg/edit?usp=sharing I've been on a years-long journey to understand the Mormon Church I grew up in. This compilation begins with the organization's origins in upstate New York, explains the wild story of how the Mormons created Utah, and ends with how the church became an almost $300 billion global empire. This is the story of both a unique religious institution, and of my own experience being shaped by that system and wrestling with its teachings. I’ve been watching you for years, since your Vox days. You never disappoint. This was such a powerful story. It is clear how much you were shaped by the LDS. For years I went to SLC for summer conferences. So, I learned a lot about the church. The whole story is simply fascinating. Thank you for sharing this history, the good, the bad & the ugly. Well done!
Johnny’s HS life 1:04:33
YouTube has a sense of humor. I got a Mormon evangelicalization ad before this
44:43 Offering a free ticket to America in mid-1840s UK probably had a lot to do with how many "converts" those missionaries got.
Great content. ❤ please do one video on each religion's authenticity..
I need a Full cup of coffee to watch this
What about the legos ? 🤣
I so relate to everything you've gone through Johnny. I, a 38 year old male, also started to leave the church 10 years ago at the birth of my first daughter. My wife has stayed in the church and the first couple of years after that were rough, but we are still together and love each other. Now we're in a mixed faith marriage even though I wish I could be done with the church. It shaped everything I was and am today. My polish mission, my ability to speak polish, the leadership positions I held in church, elder's quorum president, gospel doctrine teacher, how I interacted with my siblings and parents. Then 28 years old, I was confronted with the task of rethinking my entire worldview from a very foundational level, something which I'm still doing today. So yeah, I get it. Peace dude, love your work.
nothing says you're out of LDS like a two hour documentary with in-video ads for craft coffee.
I got an ad from the LDS church while watching this 😭
I got recommended this video after discovering the Mormom Lego Scandal lmao
Re-upload due to the Lego scandal?? 😂
i think reckless ben needs your help after this
whos here after lego situation
whos here after the lego/police corruption
Hi Johnny. I'm curious to know what your current belief system is. How you find purpose in life. Where you get your sense of belonging? How do you make sense of the world around you? For me, so much of it comes from the Book of Mormon, so I just want to see how it is for you. I enjoy your content, but I demand accurate presentations from the YouTubers I subscribe to. "Nobody else saw the gold plates". Really? No mention of the three witnesses or the eight witnesses? I love when you talk about your mission. Training other missionaries. Learning a new language. Being good at something for the first time in your life. I just wanted to thank you for this video. "The building up of Zion" is a theme that hasn't interested me very much, but thanks to you and your video, I have developed a new found enthusiasm for this gospel topic. I'll have to reread Ether 13, which was a favorite among early church members. I love it when I come across content that strengthens my enthusiasm for various gospel topics. The next time I give a talk at the Auckland YSA 2nd ward, I'll be sure to use the phrase "the building up of Zion", as that is such a noble and inspired cause. I love finding faith promoting content.
I can't believe I used to believe this. Thank you for doing amazing work, Johnny!
Incredible! Please do a video about Bricks and Minifigs controversy!!! LDS and police corruption are at the core of the story!!! This is the perfect time to chime in! This video explains so much of their behavior!! #johnnyharris
I'm just here to see where Legos fit into this equation.
Watching this after the lego scandal 😬
