We know that the universe had a beginning 14 billion years ago and that it has been expanding ever since. But something that is expanding should also have an edge, right? Thanks for the interesting video! I'm really interested in the universe, so I truly enjoyed it. Please make more videos like this
The edge of space is like a game of Pac-Man, you hit the edge and start over on the other side
Starting with the premise that "Today, we KNOW the universe had a beginning 14 billion years ago" puts a kink in the whole video, you ask me.
As mind-bending, it is the universe that is ongoing. Forever.
As a mathematician... yeah, infinity is weirder than you think.
I always say, if the space is infinite, there is a chance for everything, it just takes time. You can literally immagine anything you want and it already does or will exist in the future, somewhere out there.
Pi is infinite but never repeats, so I’m not sure the “there’s another me”in an infinite universe is a given. Which is even weirder in a way
I’m seriously motivated after watching this!
It's so refreshing to hear him honestly say "we don't know".
Goku and Beerus shook the universe with their punches alone.
I love these theiries. I love that we live in a place that we can't make sense of. I get the feeling that no matter how far science goes to explain and describe the universe, the mystery itself is infinite. Some find it scary of demoralizing, i find it comforting and encouraging.
The universe has been a mystery to me but your video has enlightened me a lot
8:58 KRIS GET THE BANANA!! NO NOT THE DONUT!!! WHY YOU SHOOTING THE BANANA'S???
the problem with an infinite universe is naming stuff -- you end up with names like, "Forest Darker than the last one we saw"
Sometimes while watching these videos I suddenly get hit by the realisation that it's not science fiction that's being talked about but it's about the REALITY we're living in and it's very real. And that freaks me out a lot.
I am so glad you addressed the "infinity time ≠ gurrenteed" properly 7:14
I seriously appreciate the fact that you point out when something is supposed to be impossible to visualize, there's nothing worse than feeling you're just too dumb to understand something. Having someone point out that you're not supposed to be able to visualize everything makes it way less overwhelming and reassuring to your average person
Thinking about if universe is infinite is ONE THING,but creating paradox out of it IS A WHOLE OTHER LEVEL OF EXISTENTIAL CRISIS.
I've been watching your videos for a long time, but I went away for a few years. I'm studying for astrophysics, but your videos have brought back a special feeling of wonder that I've been missing. I ask a question, and even without hearing me, it's answered. I'm at the edge of my seat for every new revelation. This is art. Thank you❤
Whenever you feel unimportant, remember that scientifically speaking you are at the exact center of your own observable universe.
