Living close to a black hole in order to buy yourself time and postpone the end of the universe has the complete opposite effect than intended. If time slows down for you, that means everything that is not effected by that dilation seems to speed up. It's more luke fast-forwarding to the end of the universe.
Who is watching this video in 2026 , love space it give me a sense of adventure
If time is relative, I don't get how they can say the universe is a particular age.
This is hands down one of the best documentaries on space-time I've ever watched. The storytelling is so immersive, especially the opening story about the dying civilization [00:04]. It makes complex physics feel so personal and poetic. Thank you for this masterpiece!
This exceeded every expectation I had!
I’m in awe of how clearly you explained this!
Imagine you’re inside a spaceship orbiting the Sun, far beyond Pluto, and you’re building a LEGO tower by stacking identical cubic LEGO pieces one on top of the other. You have an endless supply of these pieces, so you can make the tower as long as you like. You’re constructing this tower tangentially to your orbit around the Sun, meaning that at the starting point, the tower extends in the direction of your spaceship’s motion along its orbital path. My question is whether, due to the curvature of spacetime caused by the Sun’s gravity, your perfectly straight LEGO tower would eventually curve and close in on itself, forming an ellipse or a circle like an orbit around the Sun.
3:37 In "The Truman Show," the iconic quote "What the hell are you talking about? Who are you talking to?" is spoken by Truman Burbank (played by Jim Carrey) when his wife, Meryl, is seemingly advertising a cocoa drink in a way that doesn't make sense to him.
It is incredible to me that we live in a time where content and information like this is just free and accessible...
🎉Thank You Especially For All Of Your Help!😮
Wouldn’t a civilization living within the gravity of a black hole actually be losing time? Because the end of the universe would be accelerated from their perspective so they would have less time to survive.
Nothing is still and time doesn’t function the same everywhere and at every size.
I very very rarely comment but when I do is for a reason. The reason here is that this is ABSOLUTELY OUTSTANDING CHANNEL. Great high class work! Congrats!
I dont even understand any physics, i just like listening to these video when i go to sleep...
I’m obsessed with this channel. I feel smarter and stupider at the same time…
I do really enjoy the 'tineless' piano and the other soundtrack. Perhaps, in time, we will learn to sweep together the matter in the void, bunch it up into a ball, and make our own stars, forever continuing our universe. Stranger things will happen.🤔😃
That sponsor plug was smooth af 😂
You've changed my brain chemistry, thank you 🤝
Probably the best video on YouTube right now.
The guy who narrates Closer to Truth and this one are the top two on Youtube...I dont know exactly why but I enjoy listening to them.
