Astronauts need to do this and put a camera on the bullet to track it to find out crazy things about space

You would both be propelled back at a constant speed forever, and the bullet would be propelled forward at a constant speed forever (assuming no external force). Example: Bullet momentum: 0.01 kg Γ— 1000 m/s = 10 kgΒ·m/s Your velocity: 10 kgΒ·m/s Γ· 80 kg = 0.125 m/s So you’d drift backward at just 0.125 m/s, but forever.

Correction: In a perfect vacuum space, the bullet would travel forever. But the space in our reality is not a perfect vacuum; there are tiny amounts of gas and dust particles. They would exert an extremely minuscule amount of drag over the vast distance, and over a long period of time (and I mean a really long period of time), the bullet may eventually slow down or even halt.
