There's notepadqq in Linux basically a fully clone replacement of notepad++ in Linux/MacOS. I am surprised that not many people know about it.

Notepad++, Firefox, Putty, WinSCP, 7zip, and mIRC were my standard core programs I installed on every fresh Windows install in the mid 2000s before I moved to Linux.

Notepad++ is my daily driver at work. Fantastic free program that doesn’t have ANY telemetry. So rare anymore.

Notepad++ has the BEST MULTICURSOR system. It is really intuitive and works damn well. I always found it so basic but as text editor is absolutely the best.

I moved to VSCode recently, but I absolutely love notepad++. That thing made my academic life and my first job so much easier!

I get that it's a joke, but VSCode starts up reasonably fast. Compare to any actual IDE's load time...

It's brilliant to just paste text in there for later use, like a scratchpad. Even if you don't save it, it'll retain it until you close the tab.

To this day I still use Notepad++ for quick file editing , I'm a neovim user, but sometimes I don't feel like opening the terminal for simple editing. Notepad++ is blazing fast and comes with many built-in features and more important is super lightweight. It's one of the first programs I install on a new computer.❤

Notepad++ was amazing when I needed it. Was my first evolution from notepad. Even when I used Dreamweaver, I still used Notepad++ on my pc. I've since evolved to Atom, then VSCode, but I still remember it fondly.
