It's True that what shown in the Movie is impossible and impractical in the Real World because of how Information travels. But there's another possible scenario in which Future generation can help the Past generation civilization (which doesn't exist in the Real World). That is, it's True that Information can never travel back in Time. Which means what could be another possible scenario could be if the Information can't travel back in Time.( Humans of this Earth are already aware of the Fact that "Physical entity always goes from Order to Disorder"). Which means to retain back the previous State of any Physical entity to it's previous State can only happen if a Machine with Memories (Humans designed) is involved. So, if that Human is operating some kind of Machine which enables him to access the memories of Past and Future in his present Time. Then from his own perspective(Operator of the Machine) (present self T1), he is helping his future self (Future self T2) Timeline with the information of further future self (Further Future Self T3) information of linear same Timeline. Now some Humans of this Earth might ask does Past exists or does future exists from the perspective present. (Some Humans of this Earth believe that Past Present and Future all exists at the same Time) But it's wrong. They don't exist at the same Time. If they did, then it would have been very easy to access those Memories. Past (Lost Frag Memories) Present (Fragmented T1 Memories) Future ( Fragmented T2 Memories) (Why Farg or Fragmented because No one can access all the memories at once.) Combining all the memories is called Eternal Memories. The main reason Past Memories are very Hard to access is because the Nature of Past Memories is not same as the Present or Future memories. Currently they Only exists in the Mind Space of the living and some of it exists in the partial imprinted form on the Non living Objects. Both are continuously getting corrupted as the Time is passed by. Which is the Main reason Why seeing Past Memories and Future memories through the Machine or Mind is completely different in terms of technical terminology. Meaning Past and Future has totally different set of equations in the Real World scenarios. Now, for sometime just ignore all Tiny set of problems and Just assume that the Machine works properly in the Real World. (Because some Humans of this Earth believe that this Machine will create the Loop in the Timeline.) Answer is No. Why Because There's No Machine(Humans made) in this Universe which can work for Eternity without breaking. Which means that Loop will break on its own if the Machine break on its own because such type of Machine can't handle the huge loads and will need a constant reparing for its successful operation. And if that Machine break in the middle of the task given by the Operator then everything will go scattered and destroyed. Meaning all living and non living things will turn into different size particles/matter and will be scattered. And as for whether the operators of the Machine service or Dead completely depends on one factor that if they where outside the Range of this explosion 💥. Note:- this Machine can only work in the closed System Space. Because anything unknown enters into this Closed system space will act and behave like a Variable which machine can't handle. And as for Open System Space it's Impossible task to operate and will never work normally because that machine will loose the track of the orginal Timeline Memories and the operator will be lost in the New world created by the Machine.
