Leadership Initiatives approaches the problems of underdevelopment by empowering communities to address their own needs. Leadership Initiatives promotes local leaders to create sustainable solutions to existing community problems in the short term, with the goal of creating resourceful generations of leaders poised to empower entire nations. Leadership Initiatives partners with local government and business leaders to provide promising individuals with entrepreneurial, leadership and project management training. This creates new profit-generating businesses that serve as a model for similar initiatives in surrounding regions. These leaders then identify obstacles to development within their own communities, design workable solutions, and create sustainable business models. Leadership Initiatives accomplishes this mission by: • launching businesses through in-country development and education programs in business and leadership; • collaborating with in-country investors to finance these businesses; • securing sustainable sources of funding to underwrite the training and education programs for these initiatives; and • partnering with US-based high school students, who in turn receive assistance in getting admitted into college.
