On March 27, Shelterforce hosted “Her Story, Her Power," a webinar that featured five extraordinary women from diverse backgrounds who shared their unique journeys into community building. The webinar was part of Shelterforce's Women of Color on the Front Lines series. With a background in advocacy and personal experiences in housing insecurity, Evans Enos is dedicated to serving and empowering local Hawaiians. Deletta Dean, regional vice president for NeighborWorks America Midwest Region, brings over 25 years of experience in community development, affordable housing, and neighborhood preservation. Committed to advancing equity and inclusion, Dean actively mentors youth and volunteers throughout Kansas City. Wendy Santamaria, a community organizer in Santa Barbara, champions workers' rights, tenants' rights, immigrant rights, and environmental justice, drawing from her Latinx heritage and experiences as a first-generation college student. As an Assembly District Delegate to the California Democratic Party, she advocates for inclusivity and progressiveness. Agnetha Jaime Gloshay, co-CEO of Native Women Lead, directs efforts in capital strategies, program design, partnership development, and data sovereignty. Dedicated to advancing systems change and racial equity, Gloshay champions Native women's leadership and economic empowerment. Maggie J. Parker, founder of Innovan Neighborhoods, spearheads equitable real estate development that addresses residents' holistic needs while preserving local culture. With a track record of expanding access to capital and fostering partnerships, Parker is committed to transforming neighborhoods and fostering sustainable community-driven projects.
