What was supposed to be a simple train journey turned into a complete travel fail after I misread the departure time and missed my Shatabdi. With no train to catch, there was only one option left — book a flight and somehow salvage the day. After rushing to Bengaluru Airport Terminal 2, I had enough time to explore the lounge and sample everything from hummus and ghughni to rice dishes, chicken and dessert. Some dishes impressed, others definitely did not, but it made for a much better experience than sitting around regretting my mistake. Eventually it was time to board an Air India Express flight to Chennai. A refreshing drink, a quick nap attempt and before I knew it, I was back in Chennai and greeted by the city’s famous heat.
