Punjab land of 5 waters( aab) is facing scarcity of water because it’s not just growing wheat and rice for India but rest of the world. Go to wholesale stores in USA, Canada, UK and you will find the whole world consuming tonnes of Basmati rice. And Punjabis are wondering where the water is going? Really? Who is benefiting from this? Certainty not the farmers. If they had benefited their kids wouldn’t be selling farms and going to Kanedda for menial jobs they would not do in India.

This is not just Punjab’s problem, it’s India’s problem. Act now

A Plant doesn’t need water directly infact it needs only moisture So, these techniques of irrigation are best than flood irrigation!

But India is diverting water away from Punjab. Canals have been constructed to redirect water from the Beas and Sutlej rivers toward Haryana, Rajasthan, and Delhi. That's one of the main reasons why groundwater levels are falling. Farmers go bankrupt and Indian businesses come in and buy the land for cheap. Punjabis have amazing resilience and will always find a way to live independently. Great to learn about a solution to mitigate the issue from the video. Thank you for the awareness.

In Punjab, there are approximately 14.5 million eucalyptus trees, making it the most dominant species among "Trees Outside Forests" (TOF). Eucalyptus species account for roughly 23.7% of the total estimated stems in the state's rural and urban non-forest areas. Eucalyptus trees significantly impact groundwater through high water consumption and unique root structures Lowering the Water Table: Eucalyptus species are known as "water guzzlers" due to their high transpiration rates, which can range from 50 to 90 litres per day per plant.

Deeper you go in the ground to bring water up, more radioactive materials are brought with the water. That will cause more cancer to the public. In old days, during monsoon season, the water table used to come up close to the brink of water wells. To prevent floods, drains were dug and dams constructed. That stopped the flooding but water table stopped coming up for next season. It is a give and take situation. New technologies need to be implemented to balance the delicate situations.

The Punjab government has long followed a policy of submission to Delhi, despite the state’s decades-long struggle for autonomy a struggle that has already cost hundreds of thousands of lives. Today, Punjab appears to be in a critical condition, and not solely because of what many see as a manufactured water crisis. If you look back 30 years or more, the situation was very different. Drug use was minimal, water resources were abundant, cancer rates were low, and the Punjabi language and identity were embraced with pride. Sikhs were widely respected across India for their honesty, resilience, and work ethic. Now, it's the opposite and much of that has changed. Punjab’s water continues to be diverted to other states despite it being against international riparian laws and ongoing protests...raising serious concerns about fairness and sustainability. The state now faces alarmingly high cancer rates, widespread drug addiction, and increasing debt among its people. At the same time, the Punjabi language is being eroded and aspects of the region’s history are being altered or diminished in educational narratives. Hence the water crisis, in this view, is only one part of a much deeper problem. This decline is not accidental but the result of long-term systemic decisions by Delhi and sold out Punjab ministers like the Badals and Bhagwant who are too busy cowering to Delhi and filling their own pockets. As conditions worsen particularly if agricultural land becomes less viable farmers will be forced to sell, potentially paving the way for large industrial interests to take control, ie Ambani and Adanis. It's completely clear that minority communities have been marginalised and treated as expendable by Hindu elites who care not one iota of a persons background, even their own are not untouched by this impending catastrophe.

This is a fake communist propaganda. With abeyance of IWT there is not a dearth of water in Punjab (check recent floods)., issue is fixing up reservoirs, desilting of rivers and dams, not allowing the trees like Euclyptus and Poplar and focusing on tradition trees like Neem, Peepul, Dhrek, Bohad, etc. Once dams are created in J&K there won't be dearth of water at all. Issuse again is to preserve forests.
