I am a Filipino cheesemaker in Angeles City, Pampanga. I almost exclusively use Carabao milk from local dairy farms to make all kinds of cheeses. I have made Camembert, Raclette, Brie, few kinds of blue cheeses, Gouda, Mozzarella, Parmesan, Queso De Bola, etc. I also have developed new cheeses that are made without rennet. Carabao milk is such a versatile milk and has a great flavor when turned into cheese. It is possible to create world class cheeses here in the Philippines using local dairy especially Carabao milk. It is sad that this liquid gold is not utilized properly. I have taught the Philippine Carabao Center how to make different kinds of cheeses for 5 days and they didn't create new products using the knowledge that I have shared. There is so much untapped potential in our local dairy. If you are interested, I can give private cheesemaking lessons.

As a Bulakeña, I thought gatas ng kalabaw was normal everywhere, since I grew up in a household where my lola buys it from the market every morning for us to have for breakfast. We pour hot gatas ng kalabaw to fresh steamed rice, drizzle a pinch of salt, and mix. We also put mangoes and bananas as toppings if we have. If you haven't tried it, you should. It is my favourite breakfast food, even now. We also use gatas ng kalabaw with tablea for a cup of hot chocolate. The best. So when I clicked to watch this video, it was because I was happy to see some attention being given to gatas ng kalabaw. I am already a fan of the channel - but this particular video blew me away. How it was presented was so full and enriching, just like how carabao's milk makes you healthier. This may well be one of the most informative and best episodes you've had, so far. Carabao milk from the Philippines should be a trend in cafes and restaurants. This can boost our tourism. And I hope we can also export carabao milk products in the future. 😊

We, as Filipino, always have pride of about our identity around the world yet we don’t recognize our own products (we sometimes degrade it). I hope people will start to realize that these products are our roots and has lots of potential, we just need to protect and promote it well.

carabao milk is perfect for the gym industry. more protein? less cholesterol? are you kidding me, this is perfect for protein powder/bars, yogurt, etc. we need proper marketing, proper distribution lines so the actual product gets to the consumers who want it. this is a sleeping industry that could exponentially grow.

Ban the Villars & other developers from ruining the farmlands! The government, local or national is doing nothing to protect farming and food security. Sasabihin pa nila gusto daw ng mga farmers na ibenta na lang lupa nila. Yes, kasi ginigipit sila at wala silang makuhang support/subsidy, no encouragement or programs to keep farming alive. They're all after the profit from the developers! Kudos to small farmers who fight to keep their land to keep the tradition!

The government especially DepED should be the number 1 customer for our local farmers! We can ensure na nourished ang mga bata at the same time merong secured market ang mga Farmers without thinking that their products will spoil.

I love these types of documentaries that feature the purpose of Philippine government attached agencies, especially research-based ones—their efforts and the ways they support communities. Kudos to FEATR!

The "Sulong Lokal" movement needs a bigger stage. It shouldn’t rely solely on word-of-mouth or private initiatives; our local and national governments must lead the charge. We need aggressive marketing to highlight that homegrown products can, and do, compete with international brands on quality. Carabao Milk is a prime example. It shouldn't just be a novelty found at seasonal LGU trade fairs. It deserves a permanent spot in the daily market run, not just in certain cities or provinces, but across the country. By making these products visible and accessible, we can actively dismantle xenocentrism and educate the public on the value of backing Filipino businesses. Another great and informative video. From Tanza, Cavite here. Isa ako sa mga naunang AI technician noong unang ma introduce ang milking cattle breed sa pangunguna ng Phiippine Dairy Corporation (PDC) na kalaunan naging National Dairy Authority. Isa sa pinakamalaking problema namin kahit noon pa ay marketing dahil hindi sanay ang pinoy na uminom ng gatas. Isa ding naging problema ay ang cattle breed selection dahil mga breeds na kinuha sa ibang bansa ay hirap maka adapt sa ating klima. Kahit pa yung mga napalahi locally gamit ang AI hindi maka produce ng target na production para sa supposedly higher breed. bukod dito madami pang naging ibang problema kaya kalaunan nawala ang mga kooperatiba at tuluyan ng mawala ang industriya. Saludo ako sa PCC sa tuloy-tuloy nilang pagsuporta sa local milk production mula sa magagandang breed ng kalabaw. Totoong mas adaptable at sustainable ang pag gamit ng kalabaw as milk source dito sa atin kumpara sa baka kahit pa di hamak na mas mataas ang milk production galing sa baka.
