October Disability Awareness PSA We are more alike than different!! This popular saying often said from those in the disability community, Also, RINGS True for those within the disability community. Over the years, we were told that our daughter might have many different disabilities, such as Intellectual Disability, Angelman syndrome, Tourette's Syndrome, Prader Willi, Vello-Cardio Facial syndrome, DiGeorge syndrome, Chromosome 22q11.2 deletion syndrome, Autism, PDD and NOS, Phelan McDermid Syndrome, apraxia, developmental delay, ADHD, and OCD. What I learned from searching and sifting through all these various diagnoses is that there are many Coexisting, “ Dual Diagnosis” and similar symptoms. SO, REGARDLESS of the Diagnosis/Disability or Label we are all dealing with similarities… We are more alike than different, and We ALL Love our children and want what’s best for them. During October were going to do our part to help raise awareness about the different disabilities to help reinforce the saying… We are more alike than different!!
