You can achieve the same thing by pouring it sideways and you can get closer to the hole when the bottle is sideways

I was taught to pour the oil sideways and this works really good when first starting out with a new bottle.. Sideways upsidedown also after a bit of oil is out of the bottle.

The "glugging" happens because outgoing liquid and incoming air are fighting for the same narrow opening at the same time. As liquid pours out, it creates a vacuum inside the bottle, forcing outside air to violently punch its way in as bubbles to equalize the pressure.

It does not get trapped in the weird shape. The weird shape forms a vacuum when volume of oil is removed. It springs back and sucks in air. Air goes up in this case brother.

Then why not put the handle on the other side then. You could still produce that plenum space with the handle on the convenient side.

No, the air does not get trapped in the weird shape at the bottom. Instead because the nozzle is at the top, the air flows in and it is already at the top of the container, hence the air does not have to bubble up to the top

The air doesn't get trapped there. It's at the top of the bottle and doesn't have to fight through the oil while it's displacing it.

Nothing gets trapped anywhere, the opening is at the top where the air can go so the air goes to the top and the oil goes at the bottom... You can make your life a lot easier by just tipping it on either side.
