Rattling around probably broke the zip tie. Just take it out and store it with the rest of the recovery gear. They aren't super cool...

That would be a clevis shackle you have there sir.

Get a 4 part shackle. Screw pins are made for frequent use. Like a crane swamper or iron worker.

Some people are totally unaware of the dumb stuff that can literally kill other people. And this "lady" judging by the color wouldn't know that they caused the accident behind her.

It’s a bow shackle, it safety equipment. It’s not jewelry. Use them as necessary.

We use safety shackles with a nut on the threaded side an a cotter pin that doesn't allow the nut to back out.

I usually just carry ball bearings they are controllable 😁

I used to use a but of PTFE on the threads.

They could use safety wire. It's only been used for about 100 years.

Zip ties break off. Use chewing gum on threads. It gets hard and helps prevent pin from backing out but doesn't lock tite it on.

We wired up the shackles on H pile we drove into the ground, they would come loose for sure if we didn't

Zip ties also stretch & should not be used for securing hardware. Threadlocking compound & safety wire, or staking the bolt tip with hardened punch is the proper solution.

It's an anchor shackle (or bow shackle). And UV rays will degrade your zip tie.

Its NOT a missle. Missiles are pointed, aerodynamic, carry explosives, and are usually launched from a pad and driven forward via propellant... (more of a possible road hazard)...just tighten it up with channelocks so it wont come loose.. it also keeps people from stealing them
