Ever seen a MASSIVE male orangutan return to the wild? We have, and even now, watching the footage again all these years later, it still takes our breath away. We dug deep into our archives and found this incredible moment from 2016: Jambu the orangutan being released into the forest by the Ministry of Forestry and our partners, YIARI. Jambu’s journey back to freedom was not an easy one. Villagers discovered him after fires had destroyed his habitat. His body was scarred with airgun pellets. After six months of care and recovery, he was finally strong enough to be released. The clip shows him slowly stepping out of the crate, calm, powerful and magnificent.
