The best part of walking, barefoot in the jungle is that you don’t have to do it

We wrapped our feet in leather or bark or strapped wood to our feet for thousands of years because we didn't want to do this.

your body doesn’t “absorb” it that’s complete bs. it swells up enough to naturally push it out, and if that doesn’t work, it will get infected.

Fun fact, being from guyana those are from a fruit tree called owara, and if you do end up getting a splinter into your foot we would dig it out ourselves as kids with needles and then burn the wound with a candle or lighter to avoid infection

You can walk barefoot safely in tons of places. The jungle isn't one of them. Don't listen to this guy.

I stepped on a toothpick as a kid. Went straight into my foot. Doctors couldn’t get it all out, said eventually my body will push the rest out. And it did, months later I had like a blister for the longest time. Till I picked it open and a long piece of wood came out

That’s a spiney palm tree (Astrocaryum vulgare). They are poisonous too. I grabbed one without realizing it was a spiked tree one time and my hand swelled up. It wasn’t bad just a little. You really can walk around barefoot if you’re careful and observant (familiar with the vegetation) otherwise it’s total camouflage. I have some friends that grew up in the jungle of Peru in a town called Puerto Maldonado. I lived there for 6 months.
