I am from Norway and remember the accident very well. It was on the news every single day for several days. I have watched the documentary many times, equally impressed as I was moved by the group of friends who dived in secret to retrieve their deceased friends. The police never opened a case for the illegal diving and no one was charged or convicted. Everyone understood that they wanted to get their friends out. A great video with the production quality of Blue World.
Can’t express how much exciting and new things I learn from BlueWorldTV and Jonathan Bird. This is channel is a gem.
This is the cave diving tragedy that got me hooked on all those Mr. Ballen stories, dive talk, and this channel too! Such a crazy story. RIP to the 2 who lost their lives
I remember watching you when I was little and wanting to be scuba certified. Thank you for getting me into diving.
What an adventure! I appreciate the way you highlighted the safety precautions you were taking, such as doing a test dive to see if you could handle the cold. You do some crazy daredevil dives, but you never encourage people to follow in your footsteps without adequate training and safety policies.
Great video Mr. Bird. I'm glad you made it out to Norway for this experience. The balance between reverence, macabre and the beauty of exploration was perfect. Keep them coming and I will keep watching.
...two people died in this cave... the entire hillside collapsed into this cave... there's a blizzard around this cave... this cave is also freezing - Let's go! You're *that* crazy. Thanks for bringing us along :)
FINALLY! I have been waiting for this episode for several months by now, since you teased about it probably 5-6 months ago. And as I suspected, it was an epic one! Well done Jonathan and Todd! :-D
I watched the documentary with my dad when it came out. I remember him telling me about it and how we should watch it. I never thought BlueWorld would dive it! This is hands down one of my favorite cave dive segments yet, and I love that you explored the dry section of the cave as well. So fascinating!!
The rescue divers were nothing short than heros
Amazing episode and major props to Jonathan and team! Norway is such a beautiful country!
I love Saturdays and when Jonathan posts..sat down with breakfast and coffee and this video..im not going to lie i was nervous when i read you dived this cave because of the plura tragedy but Jonathan and team are true professionals!❤
I really appriciate your suffering/joy of doing this and other cave dives so I can see it! I'm a rec diver for life so no caves for me. Be safe and I hope you can dive until you're 80
Jonathan and Todd, great video! 💯 So, you have set me another challenge. I am already an Ice Diver. Now after my cave certification, I need to head for the Artic Circle in Norway.... Challenge accepted. I was surprised that two New England boys couldn't drive better in the snow, though.... 😉
Seeing people who are going such places always makes a question of what is the power that pushes them there. Being simply under ice is an advanced skill, but under ice cave is fascinating and twice dangerous at the same time. Congrats, heroes!!
Guys the Video is comming then❤
People may not realize that Sami and Jenni are the leaders of the finnish dive team recently in the news for the Maldives cave recovery. As soon as I saw the news about a finnish cave diving team I knew it would be them. This video still impresses 2 years later! Some seriously cold water diving. 🥶
I saw a video on that story a while back. I am glad they were able to recover the bodies for the families
Do you know what Jonathan you're the reason why started swimming classes so thank you for inspiring me👍
I really wanna see you guys do more dives with the Dive Talk guys.
