VW Crafter Self Build Ep16: The Van Won't Start AGAIN! / Flooring Down! | DIY Campervan 2026

Welcome back to our VW Crafter self-build campervan conversion! Episode 16 spans a few eventful weeks — we race to finish the interior lining, get the Altro flooring down, and drop the van off for the kitchen fit. Oh, and the van decides it won't start. Of course it does. 😂 ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ 🛠️ WHAT'S IN THIS EPISODE 🚐 Carpet lining — we finish lining the rear door surrounds and the nearside sliding door, and fit a USB socket for the projector. The interior is really starting to come together! 🎬 🚐 Acoustic board ceiling — the roof of the van gets it an acoustic board fitted, making a noticeable difference to the feel of the space. 🚐 COB lighting — the COB lighting goes in and gets the all-important seal of approval from Monima. Awesome! 💡✨ 🚐 Altro flooring — we rush to get the Altro flooring laid before the van is dropped off to have the kitchen, seating, and bed boards fitted. Episode 17 is going to look very different! 🏃 🚐 The VW software update saga — regular viewers will know we've been waiting for a VW software update. We drop the van in, take a courtesy car, and later receive a call to say VW have pulled the update — allegedly on the very morning we dropped the van off. Suspicious timing! We go to collect the van and... it won't start. It turns out the van's security systems had kicked in and stopped us from starting the van. Well, at least it's doing its job! 😅 Cue several days of taxis, trains, and Monima doing the school run equivalent for me to / from the station. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ Thanks for watching — we hope you enjoy the episode!
