Marauding fullback
I miss the days when content creators / TV could do in depth analysis of gameplay clips instead of just using screenshots.
I like how you guys actually know what you're talking about. You can see the game. Much appreciated.
I think "free back" works well as a name for that Cucurella role. It's easy to say and gets the message across.
The best part is that these are fluid systems and a lot of decisions on the pitch are moving away from manager automations to players figuring out and deciding how to break down oppositions and managers training them how to operate as a unit.
Crazy how game went from Central overload simulation into Central space creation using things drawing markers away or using wide overloads etc
Two other examples from last season that immediately snapped into my head: Kompany using Musiala and Kane as split strikers and Davies as a roaming fullback at Bayern And the fluid back three of Inter Milan that might have been the most fluid one of all time.
Nice Inter jersey JJ. Brings back memories of my childhood.
Thinking like a FM player, RFB, the Roaming Full-Back sounds great, shows what it does, how it is different from other roles, and simple to understand quickly. So all in all, good job JJ, very nice imo
In FM... That's Complete Wingback - Attack? No?
Bring back long ball! Bang it to big Niall Quinn!
That emptying of the centre is such a mindblow
Freeing up the central space is fire
Junior Firpo was doing this last season for Leeds. We affectionately coined him as a 'false 3' as a fanbase. He would routinely turn up on the right wing or in the number 10 position.
Fluid full backs (PSG, Chelsea, Spurs) and Center Backs (Inter Milan) too - are probably most noticeable tactical improvements.
NFL playbook football tactics.... Super insightful 😮
Love JJs videos and analysis. The 5th trend is kind of a relationism move, where they have the press shifting to one side and they play a diagonal against that direction. I hope we see hybrid relationsim positional systems, in my opinion it would make exciting football.
The empthying central space reminds me the goal of real Madrid back in 2022 CL final vs liverpool, 2022 real Madrid scored a lot of goals with kroos, modric and casemiro empthying the central space to give KB9 space and time on the ball with vini and carvajal giving width
this is the best video about football i've ever seen
Juan Sorin used to play like Cucurella. A left back who arrived to attack crosses in the centre forward area.
