I think one thing we should start to do before evaluating any system is look at the players available for the system. For example how did Kompanys system work in the prem with Burnley? Being able to drop your striker into a defensive line is great when that striker is one of the best link up strikes to ever play in Harry Kane. The wingers are explosive and always wide and love to cut in which helps increase the danger of those vertical runs being made because now the ball is coming at angle that is favorable to the runs. Lastly, having dynamic fullbacks able to cover that distance the whole game is only available in higher possession based teams. If Bayern was unable to have the ball their fullbacks would be gassed earlier in games. This system is perfect for the components Bayern has. Which is really a testament for Kompany. He saw what he was missing and once he got to Bayern every signing has been impactful for his vision. He built his vision with the transfers he made and that is honestly where he should be given his flowers.
