I think they are pretty neet. Give them a try for free and if you want you can get a decent amount off (the free tier is the best (better than planetscale or any other)) https://turso.tech/deeznuts

And also, if everyone thought like that, it would be very expensive to do everything in a computer
Harpoon is awesome I use it everyday 🔥
I make mods for fun (granted small mods but still). Thing is: I am not a guy to support mods. I may fix bugs if I personally also use the mod, but If I don't play the game or play with that mode anymore, tough luck. That's why I am always reluctant to share. Fir my two most modded games, rimworld and stellaris, I have a big mod with dozens of tweaks to vanilla or other mods just for me because I wanted these to exist. The only things I really shared were fixes for other mods and when I thought that others may enjoy it and could take over if they wanted it to work after it broke.
i’m sure this comparison has been made before but theprimeagen is like piratesoftware but actually the real deal
Best advice
I agree, I've built stuff to help me do my work better/faster and I then shared it with the community.
Thanks to all programmer and people wich contribute to open-source ! Thank you many times, you are heroes
Thank you very much
One way I give back to the software that helped me in the past is because I like to help the evolution of the tool I use daily, or that gave me many opportunities, at least in my case.
Sometimes I just like the free package/plugin because there is no good alternative, I just have to fix the problem of that package that is annoying to me if no one else does it. I don’t see it as a free contribution because it helps me as much as anyone else
Agreed. I sacrificed this entire year treating my business like an open source project. From all the crazy things I learned throughout just this year has opened up an enormous amount of opportunities I can take on now and dramatically increased the efficiency of the things I already do.
Sharing is caring ❤
Most importantly, it feels good when you work to make someone life better..
Mark Zuckerburng nods in agreement 😊
hue hue hue, true, nobody wanna get burnout doing the things they love
The issue is when people create high level apps in the open source license, and then they cry because other people become rich with a fork
"if you don't wanna get burnt out, you should collaborate on open source projects on top of the dev work that you bill to your company/clients" Did... Did I get that correctly?
I'll be real the only thing I received for doing anything open source were dm's with "improvements" for my code. I did implement the changes but then had to fix the extra bugs left by the other programmer. I'd probably not do that again today
The thing about making money is that it serves no purpose if you remember that it's a social construct. Having skills and being valuable is much better, and from that perspective, you can get all the benefits you can think of, both material and spiritual.
You can’t make money without using open source at some point, so yeah, everyone should be making a little bit of open source
