The moment Elminster snaps at Gale #baldursgate3

I personally really like how he snaps when you tell Elminster that you think Mystra's done enough to Gale, because his voice bellows with barely restrained fury, and basically tries to make excuses for Mystra on why she was valid for telling Gale to blow himself up. Nevermind the fact he objectively doesn't need to do it, but his entire rational is that Gale did it to himself, which shows that despite caring for Gale, truthfully he doesn't care much about him if he isnt completely bowing down to Mystra.

Krasus's mistake, was targeting the wrong god with his spell, had he named ANY other god than the one that was holding up the weave, he had been successful, and would have been able to save the netherill empire from the anti-magic and magic eating monsters they where being swarmed by. The folly is naming the wrong god as a target for his spell. And had he not cast his spell, their entire civilization would have died out anyway, being eaten by the magic eating anti magic monsters...

I legit feel bad for Gale, even though he yaps about magical items, him being suicidal is legit, his love for mystra was real. Him saying he never had any friends after the tiefling party, and that he was living in social isolation, make sense why he is so eager to blow himself up. At the end of the day it sucks to see Gale put this much commitment into the weave. And mystra just wants to reward Gale in death, because she couldn’t control her libido.

Yeah Elminster doesn't really have much room to talk when he isn't going to personally assist you in destroying the thing that threatens not just Toril but the universe. Like if the Netherbrain succeeds then we get the Grand Design which leads to Mindflayer dominance of the majority of realmspace until the Gith rise up to stop them some time in the distant future.

Reminder that Elminster was groomed and manipulated from a young age by the original Mystra, successor of Mystral. Poor guy has no idea much of a tool he's been. Theres a great video about it by DistractedElf here on youtube

Gotta love how they all call him arrogant for trying to use Krasus and then call him for asshole after succeeding in becoming a god. It makes them all appear jealous.

It is canon at our table that my wizard once snapped to Elminster to the point she even dispelled his simulacrum and blamed on him and Mystra half the lichs of Faerun cause it was indeed their fault. And started reminding him of all the time he and Mystra royally fcked up for 3 days non stop. When i was playing bg3 as that wizard the moment Elminster simula showed up i was like "I will hereby roleplay as if him disappearing is my wizard giving her dispel simulacrum of disapproval". My wizard than proceeded to be a really grumpy grandma that strongly talked Gale out of godhood and exploding. At the end of all that she was probably despising Mystra and Elminster even more than before, she is way to lawful and good to support those chaotic idiots.

Canonically, Elminster can 2 turn the absolute if Mystra would allow it, but she saw an opportunity to erase netherese magic. I always give gale godhood. He deserves it, as long as he doesn't challenge Mystra
