The lesson here in this scene isn't to make Arya no one. There's a difference between Arya and the faceless men. The faceless men have to become no one in order to serve the many face god. In truth the many face god only requires them to be exactly who is needed at that time in order to serve. The many face god does not need Arya to be no one, it needed her to be Arya Stark. The Waif didn't understand this and tried to destroy one of the many face gods most important followers and died for it. The other faceless men knew which is why they let her leave. Arya may have been someone still but thats what the many face god wanted all along. She just needed training and discipline.

This was so random. Arya couldn’t let go of her identity as a Stark, even up until the last episode where she said “if you talk about my brother, I’ll kill all of you” but she still got the title of “Faceless man”. Show makers weren’t even thinking
