Another reason to hate AI
Nintendo and Steam are playing very different strategies with very different constraints. Nintendo's main business is selling Switch 2, they HAVE to keep the price within consumer sensibilities or flop. Steam is not going for anything near a marketshare play, this is diversification + passion and elite consumer attraction. They have no need to suffer costs in the name of consumers lol
As disappointing as it is to realize I may not be able to buy the steam machine due to ludicrous prices, this is a great time for me to play with my massive backlog of older games on my other consoles. I can wait until component prices go down.

You forgot to mention the tariffs that were imposed by the President of The United States of America which also increased the price of hardware and the current war has also further raised prices. It's crazy how one country has screwed over the rest of the world and it's own citizens.

Sony / PS5 - %18 increase. Sony / PS5 Pro - %25 increase. Nintendo - Switch2 - %10 increase. Valve - Steam Deck - %47 percent increase. I can smell the goodwill for the customers. But guys it's the AI bubble's fault not the multi-billion dollar company who makes more profit than Sony and Nintendo and is privately owned. All this is doing is setting a bad standart for the industry and drilling the customers from the back door.
I was kind of considering getting a steam deck at some point but that instantly died when I saw the price increase
Never got a steamdeck because the price was too high, but was still thinking about it for in a year or so... now it just fell off a cliff for me.
I can only imagine that the Steam Machine is gonna need a mortgage.
