Both send offs fair imo
If walsh hadn't have slipped, Sualii would have hit straight in the ribs.
Take the risk and lead with the shoulder - deal with the consequences
Head clash or leaping shoulder charge, I'd say leaping shoulder charge
The way Koula hit the floor it was like he copped one flush on the chin from Mike Tyson. Car crash head injuries like that are a send off accident or not.
Yep no arm wrapping guilty as sin up the blues
Just the same but ponga is a Queenslander so he didn't get suspended
The difference is the attempted to rap the arms
In Ponga's defence, Sam Walker was dragging Koula down had he not it may of been shoulder to shoulder contact
I think the diving shoulder charge is worse than the falling down head clash
They aren't even comparable. Completely different circumstances. Completely different tackling action. Completely different judiciary ruling. Completely different input from the bunker. Completely different result. Sua'ali'i rushed out of the line and spear tackles Walsh to the head and contrary to popular opinion I still think he would have hit Walsh high regardless of if he slipped. Walsh's head flicks back showing how much force was used. It was a late tackle, and Walsh stayed down for 5ish minutes. Sua'ali'i got 4 weeks for his tackle. Ponga's hit definitely involved some shoulder, no disputing that, but the force was not comparable, the situation being a try scoring situation and coming across in cover, and Koula wasn't completely knocked out for that 5 minutes like Walsh. Additionally the bunker was arguing for 10 based on the angles and Ashley Klein was over 30 metres away from the tackle. Ponga only got fined, no suspension which suggests a sin bin would have been more appropriate.
"The arm has dropped out of the tackle" That's what cost him and QLD unfortunately, if he would have made a genuine attempt to wrap the arm he probably gets 10 in the bin and on report
Both are send offs. Anybody claiming it has head first isn't using their eyes.
To those arcking up, does a player need to be maimed or paralysed before the hit is deemed serious enough? I always thought these decisions were made to instill in the players that dangerous play is not going to be tolerated.
Not even remotely comparable
It’s a shoulder charge because no wrapping of the arms. It’s unfortunate but it is what it is. The only reason why Kaylyn isn’t suspended is because it will ruin the product for the next games. Same reason why Chrichton & others avoid suspensions
Suaali's hit on the smart mouth Walsh was the best.
Clearly NSW hit harder. This was my favourite moment in nrl history watching that penalty milking sook stiff and snoring. SNOOZELANDER!!!
How is anyone actually saying it wasn't a send-off??
Shocking call… QLD team like
