just for the context, the amortized amount for Gordon is 25m/year, for Rashford it will be 24m/year. They're not going on a "shopping spree". better reporting is expected from a media house like ESPN.

Anthony Gordon had 8 goals and 7 assists from open play in the Premier League over the past two seasons. Averaging a G/A every 284 minutes from open play. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a more overhyped English player in years. He runs around looking busy but has no end product. Isak leaving putting him on penalty duties was a blessing in disguise for Newcastle. Because his inflated stats this season from penalties, 17 goals and 5 assists in all competitions, very quickly become a very pedestrian 8 goals and 5 assists when you remove his 9 penalties. Put Harvey Barnes on penalties this past season for Newcastle and his 16 goals and 6 assists, all from open play, become 25ish goals and 6 assists for him. Gordon is so overhyped. Great business from Newcastle.

If Liverpool, real madrid or even Aston Villa made the same signing for the same price , I’m sure staff would’ve said “ it’s a bargain to sign Gordon for €70M”. They just hate FC Barcelona

Barca’s biggest issue is the wage bill and Rashford is on double the wages. They need wages available for the Striker signing. Gordon is also long-term as Raphinha will eventually exit and struggles to stay healthy. Rashford played admirably, but Gordon is better off the ball, better at pressing and comparatively, less likely to miss sitters. He’s just not as likely to produce the crazy goals that Rashford can. Last year, everyone said Flick wanting Rashford was a waste of time and was proven wrong. Now Flick wants Gordon. Fans will be proven wrong again.
